Leah Messer had some good news to share with her daughters in terms of the concerning lump in her breast.
During the Teen Mom 2 season finale, she revealed the following to her daughters Ali, Aleeah, and Adalynn.
“I didn’t tell you guys, but I had another ultrasound,”
“And although the tumor had grown, it wasn’t necessarily concerning. So I don’t have to have the surgery.”
Her three daughters reacted with a unanimous “yay!”. Leah said that somewhere down the road she might get a second opinion, but for now, she’s very happy with the news she received.
Messer’s doctor’s revealed that the tumor had grown about half a centimeter. They said that she wouldn’t have to undergo surgery to have it removed. However, she would have to go back to her doctor on a routine basis to monitor the tumor’s growth.
She also made the girls pinky promise with her to take care of their own health:
“I just want to make sure that each of you — I need you to promise me — each of you are going to do your very best to take care of your own health,”
“Take care of yourself. Pinky promise.”
Leah’s scare involving the lump surfaced around the season premiere back in May. She revealed that learning about the diagnosis made filming particularly difficult
“Discovering the lump was very difficult for me to film about. I was fearful in that moment.”
She elaborated on the fact that even though it was scary, it was an “educational message” for the viewers.
In regards to the health scare and her daughters, Leah said the following:
“I just kind of openly communicated with them what was going on — not to scare them, but to let them know everything is fine and is going to be fine.”
